Roberta Price Gardner is an associate professor of reading and literacy education at Kennesaw State University, where she serves as the program coordinator for the MEd in elementary education and the MEd in literacy education. She is a former school librarian who champions the cultivation of vibrant, inclusive reading cultures. She coedited NCTE’s Reading and Teaching with Diverse Nonfiction Children’s Books: Representations and Possibilities (2021) with Thomas Crisp and Suzanne M. Knezek. This work challenges K–8 educators to utilize nonfiction as a vital tool for centering the histories and lives of traditionally marginalized populations.
